Week 12
This week ended week 11 out of 12 of training. Sister Bleyl lead everything this week and she did AMAZING! I don't think I have really done anything!
As a mission and individually we have been focusing a lot on what it means to be perfect and how to become perfect while here on earth. 3 Nephi 12:48 and Matt 5:48 both are commandments from Christ that "we become perfect even as I, your father who is in heaven is perfect". Perfection can also be translated to mean, complete, finished, fully developed. It is possible to reach this while on earth, just as Noah did, Gen 6:10, and it should be our daily goal to also become completed through Christ.
As we go through the purification process throughout our lives we daily become more complete and more like the savior as we follow his commandments and daily strive to develop Christlike attributes.
My favorite scripture of the week has been D&C 67:13 "Ye are not able to abide the presence of God now, neither the ministering of angels' wherefore, continue in patience until ye are perfected"
We are not able to be in the presence of God in the state we are in now, and that is why we are commanded to become perfect, "complete" so one day we can abide in the presence of God.
We continue to focus on faith for miracles as a mission and daily find new people to teach and baptize. As the first Sisters in Hereford, we are so blessed to find so many people that we feel God has prepared for us. I LOVE this town. There hasn't been a single week in the past 11 weeks that at least 2 investigators weren't at church. We know this branch can be a ward soon!
We stopped teaching a lot of people this week, including Javier, who was planning on being baptized this sat. :( It is hard when people don't want to find the desire to change lifestyles to comply with the commandments of God.
We did however find a really neat lady named Shauna and her 12 year old son to teach. We always start off sitting on the couches....but somehow they always end up sitting at our feet on the ground asking endless questions. We are too blessed! She has given me a true appreciation of the Book of Mormon and the knowledge we have in this church. When we handed the book to her she hugged it while crying. She is was scared to death to teach her children something that isn't true, always saying, "I am blind and can not lead the blind!" But now knows that it is possible to know the exact and true translation of the word of God.
We also had our first interviews with president Heap this week. I am really excited to work with them and see the new places they will take the mission.
