Miracles, Miracles, Miracles
First, I'll share the transfer news...I will be staying in Borger for my 5th transfer (transfers are 6 weeks) and sister Langston will be leaving to a Young single adult ward in Lubbock, TX. Sis Peck will be my new companion. She has been serving in Portales, NM with sister Laparra, so I think we will get along just dandy :) How will I ever get along without sister Langston. We have been together 24/7 for 1/2 a year! We thought for sure we would be together till the end!
Best Miracle of My Mission (next 3 Paragraphs) :
The family of 6 we are teaching just floored us this week! They are SOO amazing! We stopped by Monday night to follow up on some things, and we found them having Family Home Evening! We couldn't believe it! They were all seated around the table playing a game with valentine treats :) My heart just melted!
The next day we met with Jennifer and Saul, the parents. They are both trying valiantly to quit drinking and smoking, and each day there are small steps taken! This lesson was extra powerful and they felt the spirit and we knew that they were ready for baptism. As we turned to them to invite them to follow Jesus Christ, Jennifer beat us to it! She asked if they could set a date for baptism!! We told them we felt the 14th of Feb was a day their whole family could be ready by. Jennifer started crying and explained she had felt prompted to get that day off of work and already would be free that day!
THEN after the closing prayer and we were getting ready to leave Saul and Jennifer started to cry and explained to us that they have been praying about tithing and even though it will be very hard for their family, they WILL follow that commandment from God. The crazy part is that we haven't taught them about tithing yet!! We just stood there in a daze and just overwhelmed by the spirit and cired. IT is amazing the miracles God WILL work in a family when they are willing and working to change (pray, read daily, church) . He is strengthening this family, teaching them, protecting them, filling their home with more love, peace, joy, and comfort. Saul and Jennifer both had crazy anxiety and they no longer do. Their children are kinder, happier, nicer, and more obedient. And SO many more miracles!
I Know that the teachings of Jesus Christ are intended for families. To create and maintain successful families. The family is ordained of God. The Home should be the ideal place to learn, grow, and come closer to God. The one safe place to raise children in a scary world.
I love you all!
